Large numbers of new smartphones running Google (GOOG) Android will send Android marketshare soaring in early 2010, according to a source close to the Android team.

The same source is quoted as saying “The only thing holding it back is the lack of devices but by early next year there will be dozens of Android devices online, Marketshare is going to skyrocket.”
Chetan Sharma, a wireless sector analyst agrees with a number of other analysts that the Android market is set to rapidly expand in the next year. With large numbers of Android devices coming online by early next year it is believed market share will accelerate significantly.
T-Mobile, in anticipation of heavy Android usage and having the initial U.S. exclusive on the Motorola Cliq smartphone, announced yesterday that it had invested $9 billion in upgrades to its U.S. data network.
Currently Apple appears unconcerned at the groundswell of support for Android but this could change in the coming weeks.
