iPhone accessories can prompt app downloads
September 30, 2009 by Devon
The new iTrip product made by Griffin Technology makes use of the 3.0 software prompting the user to download the appropriate applications to use with the accessory. This is the first report of an accessory using this code and was found by iLounge.

Apple at a Developer Conference in June highlighted some third-party applications that take advantage of iPhone OS 3.0 ability to link with external hardware. But none of the hardware prompted the user to download the apps to use with them.
Most likely other third party accessories will make use of the iPhones app prompting code now.
