Download: BootNeuter to unlock iPhone 2G firmware 3.1.2

December 27, 2009 by Brian

Want to unlock your iPhone 2G running firmware 3.1.2? Not a problem, there’s a hack for that!

You can download BootNeuter to unlock the iPhone 2G v3.1.2 (or even earlier versions), and as usual this is a free download courtesy of the iPhone Dev Team!

NOTE: This unlock hack is only meant for iPhone 2G owners.

To download, install and use BootNeuter:
#1) First of all you need to jailbreak your iPhone 2G. You can use blackra1n to do that after you’ve upgraded to firmware 3.1.2 via iTunes.
#2) If your iPhone underwent the jailbreak procedure via QuickPwn, Pwnage tool, ZiPhone, redsn0w, or blackra1n, most like you have Cydia installed. Run it. If not, install, and run it.

#3) Once Cydia loads, proceed to the “search” menu, look for “BootNeuter” and download it.

Once BootNeuter is installed you’re ready to unlock your Apple iPhone 2G running OS 3.1.2 — or even earlier firmware versions (…this iPhone hack works for all firmware versions starting from v1.0).

Please once again note that this program is only meant for iPhone 2G owners. The owners of iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS should use blacksn0w to unlock their devices.

Hi..I think this worked partly in my case. Only emergency calls seem to be allowed at first. But from there I can call to any local number. This means that the SIM card has been accepted. However, the major problem here is I still cannot access the menu items of my 2G phone. I am only allowed to dial phone numbers through emergency call thingy that appears on start up with my own SIM (changed carrier that that of A T&T). Please help

I have the same problem. But I can call around people even from the emergency calls screen. Won't let me go to the main screen either

I did all this but I am still not able to access the main screen of the iPhone. The network is shown and I can make and receive calls from the emergency calls screen. Please help me to access the main menus.
