iPhone, Blackberry users are in for Cheap Calls Thrill with Vonage
December 29, 2009 by Anita

Vonage released their new unlimited $24.99 a month international calling plan for both iPhone and Blackberry users. The Vonage World Mobile VoIP service will of course be in competition with Skype’s $12.95 a month service.
The big difference that will certainly have users looking at Vonage is that they offer service to 60 countries while Skype only offers service to 40 countries. For those that are already taking advantage of Vonage a $10 a month discount may also be available.
The Vonage World Mobile will provide users with a lower cost option for calling both mobile phones and landline internationally. The app is free and is available for iPhone and iPod Touch. For Blackberry users, the app can be found at the BlackBerry App World.
iPhone uses the software via cellular and Wi-Fi data connections, whereas, BlackBerry uses only cellular. The international calling app was first released in October this year, but this new release offers a subscription option.
AT&T changed their rule, which at one time prohibited VoIP thus the use of cellular data is now possible.
VoIP may not have seen much attention in the past, but I believe this year it will get quite a bit of attention, especially with new phone releases this coming year using VoIP such as the Googlephone and the Nexus One smartphone.
