New headsets from Klipsch for 2010

January 5, 2010 by Bill

Klipsch will soon introduce a sleek new color scheme for its Image S4 and S4i noise-isolating in-ear headphones..

While the S4 and S4i are currently available in black, they will soon sport a white finish with silver and black accents next month. “These headphones are in such high demand that we thought a new exciting color option would further broaden their appeal,” said Don Inmon, Klipsch director of product development for personal audio.

In July 2009, Klipsch introduced the Image S4i, which features an advanced three-button mic and remote system to take phone calls and control music.

The Image S4 and S4i will  retail for $79.99 and $99.99 respectively.

Klipsch is also looking at expanding the color options of its entry-level Image S2 headphones to include pink, red and teal.

In 2007, Klipsch entered the headphone market with its tiny Image X10, an ultra lightweight in-ear design. The company is now adding a mic and remote calling it the Image X10i headset.

According to Inmon, “We’ve seen great success with our X10 headphones, so it made perfect sense to evolve the product and start catering to on-the-go users who are constantly listening to music and taking phone calls.”

The Image X10i features a three-button microphone and remote system that  handles the voice and/or music control of the following Apple products: iPhone 3GS, third generation iPod shuffle, second generation iPod touch, fourth and fifth generation iPod nano models and the iPod classic 120GB. If you have an iPod touch or iPhone and Wi-Fi access, you can also use the X10i with VOIP (need an adapter for PC or Mac), Skype and iChat. The microphone also features echo cancellation, which keeps it from picking up surrounding noise.

“The X10i is not intended for casual listening,” said Inmon. “If you rip your digital music files using a poor compression format and low bit rate, this high-resolution Klipsch headset will uncover all the flaws in your content.”

Slated to launch next month, the Image X10i in-ear headset will maintain the same $349.99 price tag as the original Image X10 headphones and include a two-year warranty, five pairs of different-sized ear tips, a protective carrying pouch, air plane and 1/4-inch jack adaptors and an ear tip cleaning tool.
