iPhone OS 4.0: Game Center for unified gaming

April 8, 2010 by James

At the iPhone OS 4.0 launch event today, Apple has announced an upcoming “Game Center” gaming feature for the iPhone, iPad and iTouch.

When iPhone OS 4.0 will be launched later on this year, it will feature the Game Center, a brand new iPhone OS feature that allows for leaderboards, unified user login, multiplayer matchmaking, friends list and more — think XBOX Live! It will be available for the iPhone, iPad and the iTouch, of course.

More information on Game Center and its implementation in iPhone OS 4.0 is available here:

iPhone is definitely a great mobile gaming platform. Games are “more fun” when you can play it and share the score with friends, right? And I'm truly glad that Apple is finally doing their own gaming community system.
