CDMA(?) iPhone 3,2 and iPhone 5 hit field testing and engineering testing stages
October 19, 2010 by Brian
In latest iPhone 5 and CDMA iPhone rumours bundled in one neat package, BGR reports quoting an unnamed source from Apple that both devices are currently ongoing testing in Apple’s labs.
In fact the next gen iPhone 5 is now apparently in engineering verification testing stage, while the more immediate version (reportedly the CDMA / Verizon one) dubbed as iPhone 3,2 is already undergoing field tests with “almost final” hardware and software for this model.
What is odd though, is that this supposedly CDMA based iPhone 3,2 is due to come with a SIM card slot.
As it’s known CDMA technology does not use SIM cards but rather utilizes your phone’s ESN number, so the point of having a SIM card slot would be quite illogical for a CDMA iPhone.
So it is possible that this new iPhone 3,2 is not the Verizon iPhone after all.
Either way you can read more on this at BGR.
