How to: unlock iPhone 3G / 3GS / 4 iOS 4.1 with Pwnage Tool / Ultrasn0w

If you’re looking for instructions / guide / tutorial on how you could unlock your iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS or iPhone4, you’ve come to the right place.

The tutorial / how-to guide below will show you how to unlock your iPhone using Pwnage Tool for Mac and Ultrasn0w.

In order to work with this guide for iOS 4.1 powered devices, simply follow the instructions below.

NOTE THAT THIS WON’T WORK IF YOU’VE ALREADY UPGRADED TO IOS 4.1 OR HAD IOS 4.1 PRELOADED ON YOUR IPHONE

#1 – Download Pwnage Tool 4.1.2
#2 – Using Pwnage Tool 4.1.2, jailbreak your device (see our how-to iOS 4.1 jailbreak guide for pwnage tool 4.1.2)
#3 – Once the jailbreak is done with, launch Cydia.app.

ultrasn0w iphone 1.1-1

#4 – Inside Cydia.app search for “Ultrasn0w” (see our full guide on installing ultrasn0w 1.1-1 here).
#5 – Once located, select to install Ultrasn0w v1.1-1 –> this will install the unlock hack on your device.
#6 – Reboot your iPhone.

Now you should have a completely unlocked iPhone that will work with any mobile carrier.

    hey there :) , man i’d like to ask u a ques , actually i have the same ios as urs :) > 4.1(8B117) and also some podcasts and apps as well as some games don’t work !!! for example try to download for example ….Zippo lighter > it was working normally on my previous ios which was 3.1 but now alot of apps , games and Podcasts ….wth

    you didn’t havd to do that yoou could have just restart your phone and then delite those apps so you dont lose your musi files, however for your kind of base band unlock isnt available yet developers are working on it it’s due to be released in the near future just be patient.

    It worked for me on 3g with baseband 5.14.02 but u need to use fuzzyband

    Hey there, once your phone is all unlocked is there an easy way to tell that it is unlocked? My carrier name is still showing in the top left, but it makes sense since i”m on that carrier now with my sim card. Is there another way to tell it’s fully unlocked? Also, my jailbreak is tethered, so if I reboot and don’t tether will it still be unlocked?
