iPhone 3G/3GS iOS 4.1 / 4.2.1 Basebands 5.14.02, 5.14.04 Unlock Video Guide [How to / redsn0w 0.9.6b5 / Ultrasn0w 1.2]

I’m a bit confused. Your video says to install the iPad firmware but the sign on the video says not to do that as it was just a precaution. So do what do I do now? Just use the iPhone 4.2.1 firmware instead?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Also, do you know of anyway to force the unlock on an iPhone with no wifi on it? My kid’s iPhone’s wifi is busted and I can jailbreak the phone but can’t unlock it because there’s no way for the iPhone to get on the internet for that one time it needs to unlock it.

I have jailbroken my iPhone with GreenPois0n followed this guide “Jailbreak iPhone 4 iOS 4.1 with GreenPois0n on Mac” located in iFunia iPhone column, but seems I can’t use UltrasnOw to unlock iPhone as installing Greenpoison might bar UltrasnOw from ever operating!
Hmm, but I want to update to IOS 4.2.1, and do this unlocking, what should I to do? Guys, please help.

The thing is u don t have to install the ipad firmware urself, cause redsnow give u an option to install it for you. Hope u understand.

I think you can do it via programs that access the iPhones files, just do a google search for “ultrasnow no wifi cydia” or something like that. My problem is the new unlock seems to have varying results for some people, others are reporting issues with incomming calls and battery life, I might just hold on another week and hope something else can be released to unlock 4.1, 5.14.02 baseband.

I did jailbreak and UNLOCK my iPhone 3GS 4.1, Modem Firmware 05.15.

You need these files:

- download (iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore.ipsw) and save the file on the desktop.
- download (iPad1,1_3.2.2_7B500_Restore.ipsw) and save the file on the desktop.
- download (redsn0w_win_0.9.6b5) to jailbreak and save the file on the desktop.
- download (ultrasn0w 1.2) from Cydia to UNLOCK your iPhone 3GS 4.1, Modem Firmware WILL BECOME 06.15.00.

Exactly follow the video!!!

About 2 months ago I successfully jailbroke my iphone 3g on 4.1, but couldnt unlock it becasue it was on 5.14.02. Im a bit confused as to what steps I need to take now to unlock as it is already jailbroken/cydia installed etc…. Will ultrasn0w in Cydia now unlock and automatically update baseband? Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

No, it won’t work. Or rather it will work, but only partially.Redsnow CAN give you a (tethered) jailbreak.But ultrasn0w doesn’t support iphone 4 yet at ios 4.1 or above (if you already upgraded to it) so you WON’T be able to unlock it..

The guide above is only for iphone 3g and iphone 3gs.

I just followed the instruction and install the ipad firmware. Everything works out fine with the flashing the baseband and installation, but my cydia icon appears to be white plain. When i try to open it, it wouldn’t open cydia. Seems like the the installation of cydia was incomplete. Any suggestions for me?

Hi, I want to ask. I have 3gs that update the bandwidth to 06.15.00 already. I was successful before, when go into cydia, it ask me want to upgrade, I click complete upgrade. Then now I can’t go back into cydia anymore, everytime i click it, just flash and go back out. I try to just reboot the tethered, nothing is work for the cydia. Do you have advise can help me? My Iphone 3G failed several times to upgrade with 4.01 and 4.1 fully. I had to use Easy Recovery 2.5 to fix it every time. I then used your video and upgraded to 4.2.1 because I knew it would upgrade successfully and it did but you do need 10.1 Itunes. I had to d/l it to make it work because I had the very old version 10.0.1. Whatever? I Googled and d/led (Redsnow 0.9.6 Beta 6) redsn0w_win_0.9.6b6 & (Iphone 3G Firmware 4.2.1) Phone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw & (Ipad Firmware 3.2.2 as stated in the video) iPad1,1_3.2.2_7B500_Restore.ipsw and put them on my desktop like I was told. It took several times for it to find my device. It keep on installing drivers every reboot!! Also you need an internet connection while it is looking for Ipad firmware. Once it found my device it worked perfectly. I installed Ultrasn0w 1.2 to unlock the phone and I guess it is unlock. Now to find a video to tell me if my Iphone is unlock. GREAT VIDEO GUY!!! THANKS. Caution: If you upgrade to 6.15 baseband, your iphone may be unsellable. If you sell it on Ebay thay may return it since it can’t be straight restored on itunes ever again. You should wait until an unlock is released for your baseband.

I did a search Jailbreak on wiki.. they said “redsn0w 0.9.6b6 is a untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3GS OS 4.1″. So my question here it is, whether this applies for iPhone 3gs new bootrom as well ?

Just connect to your WiFi before you launch Cydia.

after 3 days, ( 3g Fw4.1 Bb05.14.02 ) this is what worked for me.
if you have a problem with redsn0w crashing or get stuck at ramdisk……..try running in windows in compatability mode for windows 98. after 3 days, this is what worked for me.

Awesome! Have a 3g 8gb that had 4.0 firmware. I did a clean up and reset all settings and thought I had bricked it after the logo would not disappear. This tutorial along with the DFU saved me. Thanks again!

You have to jailbreak the iphone first to get cydia so you can d/l the unlock software.but in doing this (for now) you will have to update bb 5.14.02 to 6.15.00. If you think you may want to upgrade the o/s in the future then I would recommend waiting for a stable jailbreak for 5.14.02.

I have recently jailbroken my older iPhone 3GS with Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 and unlocked it with Ultrasn0w 1.2. I have been able to use my O2 Sim card but I am getting mixed results with it. Ihave applied the SAM app to address the battery consumption problem although it does not seem to have had much effect, and I am not receiving incoming calls and sms most of the time, however if I disable PUSH, 3G and mobile data this seems to rectify this but this is not an acceptable solution.

Has anyone got any suggestions as how I can fix these issues once and for all ??

YOU DA MAN!!! Worked to perfection. I had a 3 yr old 3G with a SIM hardware unlock. Worked nicely but couldn’t download any new apps, and didn’t have any of the new features. Moreover, SIM unlock was a little flakely.

Wow, it worked on my AT&T locked 3G 8GB. Now I am on German carrier blau.de. Even the GPS seems to work just fine.

By the way: You don’t need to download iPad FW. redsn0w has the iPad BB 06.15.00 loaded already. Just need iOS for iPhone (same as installed already on phone).

After I jailbroke I was having problems with Cydia. I tried to add a repository caused Cydia to crash and now have the error message
Error: Database
Malformed line 2 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/cydia.list (URlparse)
I also didn’t get Ifile either and don’t know how to reinstall Cydia with this 6.15 baseband. Any suggestions for me?

Hi, I have a iPhone 3G. Thanks for a detailed and informative video. I am facing a problem here.While running Redsn0w 0.9.6b6 on Windows 7 (program set to XP comatibility mode).
I am not able to put my iPHone into DFU mode. I know in this timing is very important but I’ve tried approx 50 times from today morning but still was not able to get it into DFU.
Can you please guide how should I proceed.
