Nokia’s Qt framework: works great for iPhone / iOS apps development

December 8, 2010 by James

This is a rather curious case we’re covering right here, the case of Qt: a multi-device apps framework from Nokia.

Basically what is interesting here for iPhone apps developers, is that Nokia’s Qt multi-device framework in fact supports iOS devices 100%, including the iPhone, iTouch and iPad.

And Nokia’s Qt framework is in fact compliant with many mobile operating systems, ranging from Symbian, to Windows Mobile, to Android, to (as we’ve mentioned) iOS devices.

Apart of this, Nokia seems to have invested a lot into this project, and it seems to update it quite often, while maintaining active dev support forums.

So as an apps developer looking to develop multi-platform apps do check out Nokia’s Qt framework.

You can download it from http://qt.nokia.com/downloads .

Except it doesn’t… No offense, but this article is a bit light on information, and completely off on content (Qt doesn’t support iOS development at all, in any form)…

People running away from using Qt and you are trying to use Qt in platform that completely not supporting Qt. I hate to say it, but you are stupid!

Before reading this post, I was not knowing that Nokia is also in to iPhone/iOS app development. Thanks for sharing such great post.

Is this really true? It has been proven that iPhone and iPad can adopt many programs to make it more usable.

It appears that as of December 2012, there are possible legal issues with Digia who doesn’t actually allow IOS Iphone Development with QT. Furthermore, there is no clear evidence from either Digia, who now owns QT or Apple that Iphone development will be possible and that the Apple Store will allow non-IOS apps to be sold. Check more current articles as this one seems to be incorrect.
