Previously i reviewed K-450 by AKG, the famous Austrian manufactured of quality audio equipment. Now it is time to look at a smaller cousin: K 340 earphones.
K 340 is primarily made from high quality plastic. While i don’t mind it, some aluminum or metal wouldn’t hurt. The coloring is quite stylish: gray plastic with rubber running alone the wire. One could even say that they look quite sporty. I also like the streamlined kind of look, with no separation between body and silicone tips.

Differently from the majority of earphones, K 340 feature in-line volume control. It is a very nice feature to have when you quickly want to change volume without taking out your device out of your pocket. It is located at a comfortable chest-level position, and the controls themselves are quite easy to use. Even though control tube is made from plastic, it feels very solid.

One thing i was disappointed about is the lack of iPod controls, to change tracks, as well as microphone. Having those together with volume control would make K 340 one of the most practical earphones in the market.

The sound K 340 earphones reproduce is truly great. One of the most rich and rewarding sound listening experiences you can get without having very expensive musical equipment. While the earphones are a bit heavy on bass, it doesn’t feel intrusive but rather complimenting the whole mix of highs and lows. I enjoy listening both Drum and Bass tunes as well as something more traditional like classical music or rock.
The earphones also fit quite well in my ears. Even after a longer period of use, they still feel comfortable and result in no pain in the ears. Other thing I’d like to mention is that they stay quite well in your ears, and thanks to three different silicone sleeves you are bound to find your fit.

Together with the earphones you also get a nice hard leather carrying pouch, which I think is a must for earphones of such price.
Conclusion:
I am very satisfied with these earphones. $89 is definitely a nice deal for the headphones that reproduce sound so well. You could probably find cheaper earphones, but nothing will sound as great for such a price.
8/10
