If you are as adamant about protecting your expensive iPhone as we are, then you are on the constant lookout for that “perfect” case. Of course it doesn’t exist, but there are some companies that try to make something unique, something a little different to set their product apart.

One of these companies is Dandelion Research, a company that makes the Bioserie bioplastic iPhone cover, made from plastics that are derived from plants rather than petrochemicals. This has some big advantages: The cases are biodegradable. Plants are a renewable resource. Oil isn’t. That’s pretty cool from a green perspective. Heck, even the packaging is earth friendly.

But, as cool as all that is, it means little if the cases are badly made. Well, that’s not the case here (pun intended). These cases feel quite nice in our hands and we are impressed with their fit and finish. The plastic is rigid but has enough flexibility for added strength. We tried to break one by twisting, but gave up when it became clear how strong the plastic actually is.

This design of the Bioserie case offers iPhone protection if dropped, but a textured pattern on the back adds a ‘grip factor’ which helps prevent that from happening. There is only one pattern design available, but it’s an organic design subtle enough not to offend anyone.

The case snaps on easily and stays in place through daily usage. It is also easy to remove when necessary.

One neat, but important feature of the cases are almost invisible little “ridges” near all four corners which protrude just enough to keep the chrome edging of the iPhone from touching anything when it’s face-down. That’s the first time we’ve seen this feature and it will help keep that chrome edge scratch free.
